Privacy Policy

How Zentek Software collects, uses and protects information in connection with the Zentek Studio application and this website.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Zentek Software collects, uses and protects information in connection with the Zentek Studio application and this website.

The data controller is Zentek Software, VAT BE1022.292.205, contactable at support@zentekstudio.com. This policy corresponds to sections 5 to 7 of our Terms of Service.

Zentek Studio is desktop software. Your drawings and design files are stored on your own computer and are never transmitted to us.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Usage statistics (optional)

If enabled, the application sends anonymous usage statistics: the application version, your operating system and version, a hardware summary (CPU cores, memory, screen size and the graphics card / OpenGL renderer), which features and export formats are used, session duration, and crash and error reports. Before a crash report is sent, text resembling a file path is replaced with a placeholder and your username is removed.

This data is tagged only with a random per-session identifier that is not linked to your device and cannot identify you or connect one session to another. You may enable or disable it on the acceptance screen when you first run the application, and at any time afterwards under Help → View License.

2.2 Advertising

The free version displays one advertisement panel. Once per launch the application requests the current advertisements from our server; that request includes the application version, operating system name and interface language so that suitable advertisements can be selected. Advertisements are non-personalized: we do not build user profiles, set cookies, or track users. Where usage statistics are enabled, aggregate counts of advertisement views and clicks are reported under the same per-session identifier for billing and frequency capping.

2.3 License validation and updates

The application periodically contacts our license server to validate its activation. These requests include a fingerprint derived from your computer's hardware and its network name, used solely to associate a license with a device and to prevent abuse. This information is kept separate from the usage statistics described above. On startup the application also checks for updates by retrieving a signed manifest; if an update is available it is downloaded and verified before installation.

2.4 This website

This website is static. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics, and loads no third-party scripts or fonts. It is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes connection data including IP addresses in order to serve and protect the site. We do not retain web server access logs. The donation button links to PayPal, which handles any payment under its own privacy policy.

3. How we use information

We do not use this information to build profiles of individuals, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.

4. Legal basis for processing

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

5. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, rent or share personal data. We do not transfer data to advertisers. Data is disclosed only where required by law, or to service providers acting on our instructions, currently our hosting and content-delivery providers.

6. Data retention

Usage statistics, including crash reports, are deleted automatically after no more than 90 days. Aggregate figures derived from them, such as how many sessions used a given feature, may be retained for longer, as they are counts that do not relate to any identifiable person. License records are retained for as long as the license is active.

7. Security and location of data

All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on our own servers within the European Union, in a private database that is not publicly accessible. Software releases are code-signed, and updates are verified by digital signature and checksum before installation.

8. Your rights

Subject to the conditions set out in the GDPR, you have the right to request access to your personal data, and to request its rectification, erasure or restriction, to object to processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. To exercise these rights, contact support@zentekstudio.com. We will respond within one month.

Because usage statistics are anonymized and carry no identifier that we can link to an individual, we are generally unable to locate records relating to a particular person in order to act on such a request (Article 11 GDPR). Disabling usage statistics within the application prevents further collection, and all such data is deleted within 90 days in any event.

If you consider that we have not handled your personal data properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, contact@apd-gba.be.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Where changes are material, you will be asked to accept updated Terms of Service the next time you launch the application. The date below indicates when this policy was last revised.
